A group of friends uncover an otherworldly object in a rural field, which they soon discover holds greater secrets than they could imagine.

中国籍少年龙一（北村一辉 饰）与好友张（田口トモロヲ 饰）、弟弟俊霖（柏谷享助 饰）从小在日本乡村长大。由于中国人的身份，三人一直受欺负。龙一一心想要离开日本却因为护照问题迟迟难以如愿。三人于是离开穷困的乡村前往东京谋生。繁华混乱的东京让三人不知所措。偶遇一上海妓女（李丹饰）却被其骗走了全部家当。身无分文的三人侥幸遇到贩卖香蕉水的黑人混混，遂跟着他的组织赚钱谋生。再次偶遇遍体鳞伤的妓女，四人不计前嫌生活在一起。龙一弄到前往巴西的假护照，并同偷渡客商量好离开的行程。眼前唯一缺的就是一笔路费。四人于是决定打劫东京有名的中国流氓王（竹中直人饰）。到底他们能否成功呢？ 　　三池崇史早期“黑社会三部曲”第3部。

Narrated by Richard Chamberlain, interspersed with interviews of Western and Japanese academics, this fascinating show is illustrated with re-enactments and period art work. Part I covers the Momoyama period of civil war through Nobunaga to Hideyoshi and tells of the rise of Tokugawa Ieasu and ends with the siege of Osaka castle in 1615. Part II covers the Tokugawa Shogunate from 1603 to the Shimabara rebellion in 1638, which led to the closure of Japan under Ieasu's grandson. Western influence, including Christianity, is important in this period. Part III covers the period of Japanese isolation, from the time of the Dutch concession in Nagasaki harbor up to the arrival of American commodore Matthew Perry in 1854. The Samurai class declines during this period as the merchant class rises, Japanese culture flourishes, and Edo (Tokyo) becomes the largest city in the world.
